Course OutlineWeek 1: Getting to know your camera. Learning the "Dashboard" of your camera. Exit emulsions - enter sensors. RAW, TIFF, JPEG & more. Week 2: Making the trio of aperture, shutter and "film" speed work for you. The ins-and-outs of focus. Freezing and blurring. Finding the light you need. Week 3: Let the camera teach you how - shooting modes and manual. Your camera as "Advisor". Taking stock of your choices. Going it all alone. Week 4: Setting depth-of-field for creative digital effects. "F-Stops" - what's that all about? Sharp from near to far. "Spotlighting" your subject. Week 5: Gauge light and handle it effectively. Developing a feel for light. Making rays work for you. Adding what you need - in a flash! Week 6: Exposure workshop, the histogram and transferring and storing files. Quality of light? - The choice is yours. What's in a histogram? Picture files - their transport & storage. Week 7: Image-editing software - exposure, contrast, colour balance, saturation & cropping. A walk in the digital "darkroom". Work-flow matters. Tweaking your way to stunning pictures. Week 8: Edit & output - photo presentation with maximum impact. Selecting your best - the criteria.
